Join Guest Teacher Cheryl Alexander at Sterling This Week

By Announcement

Yoga has been a part of Cheryl Alexander’s life for more than two decades.

We’re excited to welcome her to Sterling this week!

She began practicing in 1999, then soon after completed her first teacher training.

Cheryl graduated from Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in 2003, and she has taught at many studios since.

But she has a unique connection to Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness. Cheryl introduced Lucille and Bill, the founders of the studio, when Lucille was passing through Houston.

She is also certified to teach hatha yoga, vinyasa, yin and Pilates, and she has served on the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training staff, most recently in 2012.

Cheryl’s strengths as a teacher include: her ability to effectively communicate the mechanics of the asana; her skill in creating playful, challenging sequences; and her ability to inspire her students to deepen their practice.

“Yoga gives me new life on a daily basis, and part of that is helping others thrive by giving them tools to nurture and empower themselves,” she said.

You can catch Cheryl’s class at Sterling on Friday, Feb. 7 at 9:30 a.m.!

April Brings Guest Teachers, Special Classes to Sterling

By Events

GPHL0281Make plans now to join guest teacher Chris De Vilbiss for a vinyasa class on Saturday, April 28 at 2:30 p.m.

Chris has experienced the transformative power of yoga, and he is excited to share what he has learned from his varied teaching background.

“My teachers are everything and I would not be here without them. I grew up in Maryland and went to Oklahoma to wrestle in university. Afterwards I learned yoga in order to release tension and re-design my self-image.

“During my Ph.D. at the University of Florida, I began to teach yoga. It was easy since I’d taught wrestling and engineering for years. I traveled for work and so I taught where I traveled to. I liked the feedback as a traveling teacher.

“After graduation, I trained yoga in India, and I’ve been on “teaching tour” ever since. One month with Doug Swenson who gave me 200-hr RYT, one month with David Garrigues, one month with BNS Iyengar.”
