Happy 9th Birthday to Sterling! Here’s How You Can Celebrate With Us

This October, we’re celebrating how far we’ve come as a studio since Lucille and Bill Moran opened our doors as Bikram Hot Yoga Mobile back in 2010. 

Over the last nine years, we’ve welcomed so many teachers and students seeking to heal or get healthy. 

For the first several years, only the 90-minute original hot yoga class was offered. The Original Hot 60 was added in 2014 and the studio changed its name to Sterling Hot Yoga Works.

Iron Hour was added in 2015, followed by vinyasa, yin and Inferno Hot Pilates in 2016. 

The studio name was changed again to Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness to reflect the well-rounded services the studio now offers, including yoga, reiki, massage, full-body light therapy and more. 

We are all a part of this amazing legacy that Lucille and Bill began, and we thank you for your continued support.

10 Reasons to Keep Up Your Practice This Summer!

Reasons to Practice Hot Yoga in Summer Benefits of Practicing Yoga in Summer Sterling Hot Yoga“But it’s so hot outside!” We get it! Mobile is known for being super hot, super humid and super rainy (usually all three in a very short span of time).

But maintaining a regular practice when it’s just as hot outside is really good for you. Here’s 10 reasons why!

1. Strengthen your heat tolerance. Keep your cool outside of the hot room, literally.

2. Get fit for summer activities. If you spend more time outside running, playing golf, throwing a Frisbee, etc., you’ll have more strength and stamina.

3. Make progress in your practice. If you’re body is already warmed up, thanks to Mother Nature, you won’t need as much time to loosen up in the hot room.

4. It will keep you hydrated! Yes, you need more water (electrolytes too!) in the summer to bounce back.

5. You’ll make healthier eating choices. When you feel good, you’ll take better care of yourself!

6. Be better prepared for your next class. The heat prolongs the flexibility and relaxation you’ve achieved, so you’re body is ready to practice!

7. Keep your body and mind energized. We’re not saying you shouldn’t relax, but yoga can help you kick that sluggish summer feeling.

8. Spend more time with your yoga family. Being around a positive community like ours is good for your soul.

9. Get over the fear of the “fall return.” If you’ve maintained your practice, you’re already there!

10. Yoga is never a bad idea. If you’re tired, stressed, anxious, busy, show up anyway.

Find Your Balance — In Your Practice and In Your Life

Arm Balance Workshop Sterling Hot Yoga Mobile ALJoin Sprite on Saturday, Feb. 23 from Noon to 1:30 p.m. for an arm balance workshop to learn techniques and tips on finding and maintaining balance while practicing arm balancing postures.  

Balancing requires constant focus, which helps strengthen the connection to the present moment.

Yet, when the challenge of balancing on your hands is added, it requires even more mental focus, concentration and awareness.

As a result, arm balances can also help to increase self-confidence, courage and inner strength.

Learn more about the foundations for arm balancing, like body mechanics and leverage, as well as tips and stretches to help you fly.

Start with basics, then build on those to more advanced postures for those who are ready.  

This workshop will include arm balances that may be part of your Vinyasa Flow classes, plus instruction will be given on preparatory poses that help you build up to new ones to add to your practice.

Platinum Plus Returns Saturday, Feb. 16

Platinum Plus Intermediate Yoga Sterling Hot Yoga Mobile ALIt’s been a little while, but Platinum Plus is back! We’re excited to offer this 75-minute combination of postures, which include the 26/2 of the beginner’s sequence, intermediate Ghosh postures and others similar to what you would practice in vinyasa or yin.

You don’t have to even consider yourself an “intermediate” yogi to take this class. All you have to do is TRY!

We recommend that you have practiced the 26/2 sequence for a minimum of three months before taking this class. This class is offered for a $10 drop-in rate.

Give them the experience of a class at Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness, and on Valentine’s Day, the class is on us!

According to a recent study, more and more Americans–about 74 percent–prioritize experiences over things, so this is a great way to make a memory!

Bring a friend, a family member or your significant other to Sterling on Thursday, Feb. 14, and your guest can take the 5:30 p.m. Inferno Hot Pilates class or the 6:45 p.m. Original Hot 90 for FREE.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the class start so we can properly welcome your guest and he or she can fill out the short registration form.

Way to Set Those Healthy Habits!

It takes about three weeks to set a new habit, so completing 21 classes in 21 days helped these challengers create or reinforce a healthy habit for themselves.

We’ve slowly been making the transition to Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness to reflect the full range of wellness services that we make available to you.
