Masks On for Breathing Exercises in Hot Yoga Classes!

By Announcement

Given the resurgence of COVID-19 cases, we are adjusting our mask requirements in our hot yoga classes.

Until recently, we taught closed-mouth breathing in pranayama to begin the class and blowing in firm to end it. We will encourage everyone to practice these again the same way.

If you prefer to practice these breathing exercises with an open mouth as they are typically taught, we will require masks on.

This applies to the breathing exercises only, and the mask may be removed for the yoga practice.

Masks will be available at the front desk. Please continue to observe social distancing inside and outside of the hot room.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding!

Safety Guidelines Revised With Governor’s New Order

By Announcement

With Gov. Kay Ivey’s announcement of the “Safer Apart” order effective Friday, April 9 at 5 p.m., we will be making a few changes at Sterling.

While masks are no longer required, we still strongly encourage you to wear them at the studio in the common areas until you get on your mat to practice. You do not have to wear your mask while you practice.

We will continue to take staff and student temperatures upon arrival with the continued safety of everyone in mind.

With this announcement, we have reopened our shower facilities for students to use after class, and we are also bringing back a popular amenity—lavender towels!

Thank you, everyone, for continuing to comply with our safe operating guidelines and for your support of Sterling. We could not have made it through the last year without you!

New Studio Policy: Wearing Masks Required

By News

In compliance with the City of Mobile’s ordinance requiring residents to wear face coverings in public places, we are also requiring our students to wear masks at the studio.

Effective Friday, July 3 and for 30 days following, everyone will be required to follow these guidelines:

  • Wear a face covering when you enter the studio
  • Wear face covering at all times while in the lobby
  • Enter the yoga room ASAP and secure your spot
  • Please keep face covering on until class begins
  • You may choose to wear face covering during class (make sure breathing stays efficient if you do this)

In addition, please also adhere to the following protocols that will continue to keep Sterling a safe and happy space for all!

Please enter the yoga room through the first door (closest to the entrance) and exit through the second door (closest to the back exit) to avoid congestion.

While Sterling is a unique community and we all enjoy connecting with our fellow yogis, please continue to maintain social distancing before and after class.

Thank you for your cooperation and support!

Sterling Reopening Guidelines, Livestreaming Classes Continue

By News

We’re excited to announce that Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness will reopen on Monday, May 18 at 6:15 a.m.!

Our schedule is changing just slightly to accommodate extra cleaning between classes, so please check our online schedule and take note.

As we continue to adhere to public health guidelines for your safety, we will implement the following protocols until further notice:

Temperature screenings will be conducted and questions regarding COVID-19 exposure will be asked upon your arrival.

Please continue to book your classes online as there will be no sign-in sheets at the front desk in order to minimize contact. The teacher or staff member will check you in when you arrive.

Classes will be limited to 20 students each. The hot room has been marked in accordance with recommended social distancing guidelines. Ten students may waitlist the class, and 5 minutes before the class begins, we will allow students on the waitlist to enter the room.

After you check in, we ask that you enter the hot room as soon as possible and prepare for your class.

Please respect social distancing in the lobby and common areas in the studio. In an effort to minimize contact, reduced seating will be available.

Mat and towel rentals are temporarily suspended, as well as studio-provided props, such as blocks, blosters, straps and weights. We will have some of these items available for purchase at the studio.

Locker rooms are available for restroom use, but shower facilities are not being offered.

If you prefer to continue taking classes virtually, that option is still available for every class on the schedule. We’re not going to let that stop you from practicing with us!

We are still offering $30 live streaming memberships for your first month so our new members can begin their practice with us.

Stay connected to Sterling and our teachers by joining their livestream classes! ALL classes on our schedule can be practiced from your home, so even though we’re apart, we can be connected energetically.

Remember that even if you are practicing alone for the time being, we are still all in this together! Thank you for your presence (even virtually) that helps make Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness the special place and community that it is!

Update from Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness

By Announcement

We’ve always known that each of you contributes to the positive, healing and fun environment at Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness.

But without your physical presence at the studio due to our temporary closure related to Covid-19, it is even more apparent. The studio is just not the same without you!

If you feel affected by fear, sadness or anxiety, I encourage you to reflect on an important benefit of a regular yoga or Pilates practice.

One of the most important things you learn on your mat that can translate off it is building resilience, the ability to act from a place of peace and calm regardless of the situation you are facing. Now more than ever, it’s important to keep moving, stay focused and stay strong.

We are making it easy for you to maintain your regular practice from the safety of your home.

Many of you have joined our livestream classes in our Zoom Room, and we’ve had nothing but positive comments from those who are participating.

Of course, it’s not the same as practicing in the studio, but this is a great opportunity to focus on other aspects of your practice, like stillness, breath and awareness.

But it still offers you a way to “meet” your friends in the hot room, and we all could use some connection to the outside world right now. (See instructions on how to join these classes below!)

Thank you again to everyone who is able to continue to support Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness. By maintaining your membership, you are not only supporting the studio, but also each of our teachers who work tirelessly to provide compassionate guidance and knowledgeable instruction.

Even by sharing our social media posts, encouraging a friend to join us, offering words of support or sending positive vibes our way, know that we appreciate every thing you are able to do. We are eagerly looking forward to the day we can gather together again in the hot room.

Please call or email me if you have any questions or comments on how we can improve Sterling Hot Yoga & Wellness!
