What year did you first start practicing yoga?
I started practicing yoga lightly in 2011 and by 2014 I was hooked and practicing at least 4-5 times a week.

Was there any particular reason you started practicing yoga?
I started practicing yoga after acquiring quite a few injuries from running marathons. Not only did the miles take a toll on my body, but as my body started to fail on me, my mentality did as well! I became sad and sort of stuck in rut. I was plateauing in the gym and on my long-distance runs as well. At work, my stress was at an all-time high, and I sought out yoga for some relief, which it brought graciously!

Favorite posture and why?
My favorite posture is a forearm balance. It was always a pose I deemed impossible for myself, and when I “nailed it” I was so stoked and quickly became obsessed! My body grew stronger and stronger each time I practiced it and it became easier as well. I love the shapes I can make in it. It’s a beautiful posture, and I feel very empowered when practicing it.

Why do you currently practice this yoga?
I currently practice yoga every single day to maintain my mental and physical health. I’m also a teacher, and I teach from the mat so I get to practice yoga multiple times a day! An absolute dream of mine!

What do you love about teaching yoga?
Oh, I love teaching yoga so so much! It’s hard for me list everything I love about teaching, but the main one is sharing my passion for yoga and seeing it spread throughout my students. Seeing their lives change over time along with their overall health is so warming and makes me incredibly happy.

Two things most people don’t know about you?
Most people do not know I was a veterinarian technician for 14 years! I love animals! And they may also not know that I am a HUGE bookworm. I love to read and I had acquired over 400 books before I decided to donate some of them… only some! I still maintain a large collection of books and yes I have read them all! 😉
