What year did you first start practicing yoga?

Was there any particular reason you started practicing yoga?
I started practicing after David, the new owner, came into my work and started talking about the classes and how rewarding they are to both the mind and body. I couldn’t wait for the opportunity to see what he was talking about, so I went to my first class and bought the starter pack and never looked back!

Favorite posture and why?
As a teacher, I would have to say my favorite posture in Iron Hour is tree pose. It is a nice, calming pose during the practice, and I like to see the students just breathing, balancing, regaining focus. As a student of the Bikram classes, I enjoy the backward bending series of postures the most. The feeling of blood flow plus the emotional surge those posture give me is something I look forward to during class.

Why do you currently practice this yoga?
The most honest answer to that question is the Sterling family. I started this practice because I wanted to try yoga; I have always been flexible and bendy, so it just seemed a good fit. But what kept me coming back was the warm, welcoming feeling the studio provides. I feel like I’m at home when I’m at the studio.

What do you love about teaching yoga?
One of the things I love the most is seeing students push themselves. Seeing the determination they have to hold a posture a little longer or sinking deeper into a stretch. It’s so rewarding to watch students better themselves.

Two things most people don’t know about you?
I love deep sea fishing, and I can change my own tire and oil.
