Original Hot Yoga Posture Clinic Sessions Begin This Month!

Wondering if you’re doing your yoga postures correctly? Ready to take your practice to the next level? During our Original Hot Yoga Posture
Clinic Series, you can! This month, Michelle Ryan will lead the first of five sessions that will cover proper alignment, breathing, corrections, guidance and personalized feedback in each section of the 26 and 2 series as follows:

All sessions will be from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. in a heated room. Be prepared to participate as you would in class, so wear regular yoga attire. Bring your mat, towel, water and questions! Cost for the series is $120 for all five sessions, or $30 for each one you attend.

About Michelle
Michelle stumbled upon yoga while residing in Savannah, Ga., in 2011 and has been practicing ever since. She completed Sterling Hot Yoga Teacher Training in Summer 2015, and has also been certified to teach many other styles, including: Yoga Sculpt, Yin, Inferno Hot Pilates, Vinyasa, Chair Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and more. Michelle has studied with Bernie Clark, Bryan Kest, Esak Garcia, Lucas Miles, and Scott Lamps and Ida Jo, the head teachers of Ghosh Yoga. In addition to the hundreds of hours of in-person workshop and ongoing study since her Sterling training, she has taught at studios in Huntsville, Alabama, Pensacola, Florida, New Orleans, Louisiana, Houston, Texas, Lexington, Kentucky, and Baltimore, Maryland. Michelle, who also holds an oncology yoga certification, regularly volunteers her time teaching yoga to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers at USA Health’s Mitchell Cancer Institute.

Relieve Tension and Awaken Wellbeing: Explore the Art of Thai Yoga

Ever dream of giving and receiving a relaxing bodywork that doesn’t require oil or undressing? Join this exciting workshop and discover the magic of Thai Yoga, an ancient therapy combining yoga-like stretches, gentle rocking, and mindful touch to ease common aches like head, neck, shoulder, and lower back pain.

No prior massage experience is needed! In this fun, partner-based workshop, you’ll learn fundamental Thai Yoga techniques to release tension, improve flexibility, and boost your well-being. Imagine grounding yourself and your partner, exploring assisted stretches, twisting together while fostering compassion and kindness. This workshop is about more than just massage; it’s about building connection, trust, and communication.

Leave feeling open, relaxed, and energized with newfound skills to soothe common aches and pains in everyday life.

Partner-assisted, so bring a friend, a spouse or family member. You can choose to take the workshop solo and be partnered with another solo student. No massage experience necessary – everyone is welcome! All participants must register, $95 tuition is per student.

Wear comfortable clothing. Please bring multiple yoga mats for padding, blankets and cushions/pillows.

Originally from Toulouse, France, Muriel now calls Pensacola, Florida, home, where she nurtures well-being through her private massage practice. Her background in running and yoga ignited her fascination with the human body and its potential. This passion led her to yoga teaching and, in 2009, she discovered Thai Massage while undergoing her first yoga teacher training.

Inspired by the profound connection between body and mind, and its impact on holistic well-being, Muriel dedicated herself to refining her skills. She honed her expertise in Thai bodywork through the Vedic Conservatory and for the past 13 years under the guidance and the mentoring from David Roma, LMT, RomaThaiYoga. Her dedication to continuous learning saw her travel all over the United States and internationally, including studying at the Sunshine Massage School in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2013.

Muriel’s commitment extends beyond personal growth. In 2019, she returned to Thailand to assist with a Thai intensive retreat, sharing her knowledge and supporting others. Throughout 2023 and early 2024, she further deepened her practice through immersive experiences like assisting her teacher David and studying Osteo Thai & Dynamic Thai massage with Flo Bisogno.

This summer, Muriel will delve deeper into Osteo Thai in France, learning from internationally acclaimed teacher Arno L Hermitte. Additionally, she holds the designation of an approved Florida State Board of Massage Therapy Instructor.

Disco-Themed Inferno Hot Pilates

Get your shine on with sequin, metallics, bold colors and bell bottoms if you dare, and get ready to sweat to the disco tunes of the ‘70s! We’re encouraging everyone to dress up for this one, and since Halloween is coming up, there’s no better time to get in costume. Expect to have even more fun than usual!

Spooky Vinyasa Flow

Join Bridget Reiter for a challenging vinyasa flow with a creative take to make it spooky! Some familiar posture names may be changed to help get you in the mood for Halloween. it’s a great way to get into the spirit of the season!

Thursday, Oct. 27 – 6:45 PM

Silent Original Hot 90

The teacher guides the class but practices with you! To get into the spirit of the season, we’ll turn the lights down and the music up. Sweat, stretch and breathe to a Halloween-inspired playlist, and experience the 26/2 in a new and different way!

Friday, Oct. 28 – 5:30 PM

Happy Hour Yoga With Friends IN COSTUME!

Put on your best costume and join us! Remember, this class is FREE for first-timers and comebacks, so everyone is welcome to participate!

The staff  will vote on the best costume, and the winner will receive a Kulae yoga mat. These mats are reversible, eco-friendly, lightweight, non-toxic, non-slip and easy to clean.

Monday, Oct. 31 – 5:30 PM

Scary 60 – Original Hot 60

You think you know the Original Hot 60, but not in this class! Will you do one set or two? What postures will you flow through? We can’t tell! Just know that this will be a great challenge for your body and your mind, and if you like knowing what’s next, it may be a little scary too!

We encourage you to register in advance for these classes because we do expect there will be even more interest in them! You can book classes through Mind Body, and if you have any questions, please let us know!

Fall Challenge Begins Oct. 1 With New Incentives and New Format

Sign up for our 30-Day Practice Fall in Love With Yoga Fall Challenge, and take any combination of 30 classes at the studio in 31 days, beginning Saturday, Oct. 1 through Monday, Oct. 31.

Gravity Yoga Pop-Up Sunday, Aug. 28, Workshop Series Begins Sept. 11

Feeling stuck in your practice? Maybe it’s a stiff back, locked-up hips, tight hamstrings or tight shoulders.

If so, join Michelle Ryan on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 4:30 p.m. for a new type of class that will help you utilize the science of passive stretching to effectively change your body, improve your posture and increase your range of motion.

Gravity Yoga is a mat-based, targeted mobility training method that has helped students all over the world improve their flexibility and move better.

The pop-up class offered in the studio and via livestream (if there is interest), and it will be designed to introduce you to this style of practice before the next workshop series begins on Sunday, Sept. 11.

The pop-up class is included in active Sterling memberships, but drop-ins welcome at a special rate here.

Please reserve your spot as this class will be limited. See you then!

Summer Bingo Challenge Is BACK!

One of everyone’s favorite challenges is BACK this summer. Get ready for the 2022 Sterling Summer Bingo Challenge!

You have all of June (and half of July!) this summer to fill up your card. Beginning Wednesday, June 1 through Friday, July 15, we’re challenging you to play bingo and win some fun prizes along the way.

All you have to do is simply maintain your practice and complete activities to earn stamps on your card. You can earn one bingo stamp per class.

If you’ve never played Sterling bingo, you’ll want to! Of course, if you have, you’ll want to play again!

Cards will be available this week at the front desk. Sign up and have (more) fun doing yoga this summer!
