How We’re Getting Into the Spirit of Halloween at Sterling!

By Events No Comments
We’re excited about the month of October at Sterling, and with so many fun classes we’re planning, we hope you will be too!

Most of them are inspired by Halloween, and who wouldn’t want more chances to celebrate that?

Don’t forget that the 30-Day Fall Challenge begins Friday, Oct. 1 and ends Sunday, Oct. 31. We’re encouraging everyone to practice 30 classes during that time, and we think these creative options will definitely inspire you to participate!
Sunday, Oct. 3 – 4:30 PM
Wheel Yin Yoga
Experience your yin yoga practice in a new way! Deepen your backbends, open your shoulders, massage your spine and more by incorporating a yoga wheel. Wheels will be available for purchase or rent at the studio, or you are welcome to bring your own if you have one.
Monday, Oct. 18 – 7 PM
Spooky Vinyasa Flow
Experience a challenging vinyasa flow with a creative take to make it spooky! Some familiar posture names may be changed to help get you in the mood for Halloween. Join Bridget to get into the spirit of the season and have even more fun flowing!
Tuesday, Oct. 19 – 5:30 PM
’80s-Themed Inferno Hot Pilates
Break out your neon, jellies, leg warmers and big hair, and get ready to sweat to the fabulous tunes of the ‘80s! We’re encouraging everyone to dress up for this one, and since Halloween is coming up, there’s no better time to get in costume. Expect to have even more fun than usual!
Thursday, Oct. 28 – 7 PM
Silent Original Hot 90
Your teacher will lead the class while practicing with you! To get into the spirit of the season, we’ll turn the lights down and the music up. Sweat, stretch and breathe to a Halloween-inspired playlist, and experience the 26/2 in a new and different way!
Friday, Oct. 29 – 5:30 PM
Sunday, Oct. 31 – 10 AM
Scary 60 – Original Hot 60
You think you know the Original Hot 60, but not in this class! Will you do one set or two? What postures will you flow through? We can’t tell! Just know that this will be a great challenge for your body and your mind, and if you like knowing what’s next, it may be a little scary too!
Saturday, Oct. 30 – Noon
Platinum Plus
Maybe it’s a little scary to push yourself out of your comfort zone, but you and your practice will be better for it! Platinum Plus is a 75-minute intermediate-level original hot yoga class that is designed to do just that. Work toward advancing your practice with us! $10 drop-in.
We encourage you to register in advance for these classes because we do expect there will be even more interest in them! You can book classes through Mind Body, and if you have any questions, please let us know!

NEW! Wheel Yin Yoga Class on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 4:30 PM

By Events No Comments
Have you ever used a yoga wheel?

It’s a great prop to help massage the spine, assist in deep backbends and aid in flexibility, and we’re introducing them at Sterling!

Join Michelle on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 4:30 p.m. for a yin yoga class that will incorporate yoga wheels.

We’ll have wheels available at the studio for sale or rent, or you can bring your own.

We also encourage you to bring a thick towel or thin blanket if you do participate.

Wheels are commonly associated with deepening backbends and assisting in reducing tightness in the chest and shoulders.

But this class will also make use of the wheel in forward folds and hip-opening poses.

Sign up here in advance so you will have access to a wheel and to reserve your spot. Class size is limited!

This is the first of what we hope are even more wheel yoga classes, so we hope you can join us and let us know what you think!

Hot Vinyasa Fusion Returns Monday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.

By Events

Looking for a class that combines the best of Bikram Yoga AND the best of vinyasa flow? We’ve got it!

Hot Vinyasa Fusion is back on Monday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. Michelle will lead this 75-minute class that begins with several rounds of chaturangas, stretches and even some original hot yoga postures mixed in.

Then it transitions to some balancing poses and floor work that will be very familiar if you practice the 26 and 2 regularly.

It’s heated to about 100 degrees, so you will still work up a good sweat!

The original hot yoga sequence helps maintain and restore natural range of motion, but it is sometimes criticized for not having much of a focus on the upper body or hip openers. That’s where Hot Vinyasa Fusion comes in!

If you’ve tried it and loved it, your chance to practice it again is coming up soon. If you haven’t taken it yet, so is your chance to try it!

Sign up for the in-studio class here or the livestream option here!

How to Get Free Yoga and Support a Great Cause This Month

Your support is needed now more than ever with continued impacts of COVID-19 and Hurricane Ida in our communities.

We’ll accept food items through Thursday, Sept. 30.

First-timers, please arrive 15 minutes before class begins. Free class applies to any class on our schedule throughout the month of September!

By Events

Have you been missing Platinum Plus? It’s back on this schedule this month at Sterling on Saturday, July 10 at noon.

Platinum Plus is our 75-minute take on the intermediate hot yoga series, and it combines postures you would practice in the 26/2 of the beginner’s sequence, intermediate Ghosh postures and others similar to vinyasa or yin.

Don’t be intimidated by the word “intermediate.” Every pose has steps you work on as you progress. We do recommend that you have practiced the 26/2 sequence before taking this one.
