Class Updates, Announcements and Cancellations

By Announcement

Sterling Yoga Holiday Cancellations and Class AnnouncementsIntrigued by the combination of yin and meditation? You’ll get the chance to experience both on Sunday, July 16 at 4:30 p.m.

This Viscous Yin class will incorporate the mindful elements of yin practice, followed by a 15-minute guided meditation led by Wes Singleterry.

Many of our students who’ve taken this yin-meditation blend say the slower-paced practice is ideal preparation to get the maximum benefits of the relaxation from the meditation.

On July 4th, we’ll cancel all classes at Sterling to allow our students and staff to enjoy some time with their family and friends.

We’ll offer our regular slate of classes on July 3 and July 5, and we hope to see you on one (or both!) days as we encourage you to maintain a regular practice.

Have a safe and happy Independence Day!

During the month of July, we’ll be putting our Wednesday morning slow flow vinyasa class on hold due to the limited availability of teachers who can lead classes at that time.

We’ll keep you updated via this newsletter and our Facebook page for announcements about this class and its future offerings.

Enhancing Yoga With Meditation

By News
by Wes Singleterry

Benefits of MeditationThere’s no wrong way to meditate. The important thing is that we meditate. Why?

Meditation can enhance the “is”-ness of what is by helping us be present in the present moment, deepen, broaden and heighten whatever experience it is we are focusing upon and reduce the fight or flight syndrome.

Meditation is a contrast to yoga in that the body is stretched in an opposite direction than yoga. Physically, yoga stretches the body in one direction and meditation relaxes the body opposite the stretch. As a side effect of the experience, the mind, body and spirit are broadened, deepened and heightened.

For me, my meditation experience has uplifted me physically as well as mentally and spiritually. On the physical side, meditation has enhanced my life in the way of stress reduction, deeper sleep cycles and simply relaxation in general.

On the mental side, I have learned to meditate myself to sleep at night. As a result, I have deeper longer sleep cycles, and awaken fully rested, rejuvenated and restored.

Being so, I am more productive, efficient and effective in work and play. I have also become less angry. Spiritually, I have a deeper, broader, higher perspective of self and relations with others. I have learned to be comfortable in the midst of uncomfortable situations.

So how does meditation enhance yoga? Expansion. The farther we go in one direction, the farther we CAN go in the other direction.

Life is about finding bliss. In each yoga and each meditation I experience, I learn something new about myself, which propels me closer to my bliss. I am happy, healthy, wealthy. Namaste!

Welcome Two New Teachers to Sterling Hot Yoga Mobile

By News

New Sterling Teachers Sterling Hot Yoga MobileThe Mayan Coast here is a beautiful and special place.

It’s where each of the Sterling Hot Yoga Mobile teachers learned to teach the 26/2 sequence that is a key portion of our studio class offerings.

The Sterling approach to teaching is one of compassion and accessibility.

The goal and intention of every teacher on the Sterling staff is to give you a positive, yet challenging experience every time you show up on your mat in the hot room.

In just over two weeks, Sterling Hot Yoga Mobile will welcome two new teachers, but they should be familiar faces to you!

Kenee Lacoste and Tyloria Crenshaw will return to the podium in two weeks. Already they are doing a fantastic job!

While at training here in Mexico, they are spending hours every day taking classes, learning anatomy, studying dialogue and teaching postures.

When they return home, they will be amazing additions to what is already an incredible staff of teachers.

Please join us in welcoming Kenee and Tyloria back to Mobile! Both of them will be teaching their first classes in Mobile on Monday, July 17. Check the schedule and plan to give them a warm Sterling welcome when their return to their home podium!
